The first half hour – Gina, Troy, Barb and Seanne went over the homework from last week, which was to complete steps 1 and 2 of writing an SOS. Feedback was given to the group that when meeting the 'S' (specific) step of the SMART guidelines the rest of the 'MART' steps fell into place. If the SOS wasn't specific enough, it was much more difficult to complete the rest of the steps.
We reviewed Step 3 of the SOS process – making sure that we have balance in our lives and it was determined that one WANT can fit into multiple categories of the Wheel of Life (which include: Financial, Career, Fun, Health and Fitness, Relationships, Personal Growth). For example, Barb's WANT of the new house in CA fits into all 6 categories.
We reviewed Steps 4 – 6 of writing an SOS
Half was through the meeting, Corinne and Jerry joined us. YIPPEE!! New team members!! Welcome!!
We went over Module One – 'Identity WANTs', and the three processes that we can choose from for this week's Practice. Members are invited to select one or more and be prepared to share and offer feedback at our next meeting.
Attended:
Doug Hay
Karen
Barb
Seanne
Troy
Gina
Update: Doug Hay will be joining us again, fully committed to devoting one hour a week to 'practice' and some activity each day and giving his open and honest feedback, beginning March 18th!
Kitty was unable to make this meeting due to work obligations and Troy and I will be in touch with her this week to solicite feedback
Best Things:
Barb: New job stability due to her CFO leaving – 'enter new responsibilities and DRs'
Karen: Got her permit squared away for her consulting business
Seanne: Made great chicken piccata (yep – Seanne cooked…in her own kitchen!)
Troy: His business broker found 3 vending routes for sale
Doug: Got much more done than he expected in taking care of his mom's estate in NY
Gina: Traded an hour of work for an hour of fun errands – to keep 'balance' in her life
Troy and Gina asked Doug Hay for his commitment to time and feedback for teamWANT. He's in with full commitment and is interested in 'getting his life back on track' since dealing with the passing of his mom
Question presented to the group: How did the 'practice' go for 'and then what' or 'the 7 whys'?
Barb: Did some soul searching about her new house – what is my core want? It's about financial security and planning for the future. I want to be sure to celebrate successes along the way. Make sure I'm not living my life for 20 years down the road.
Karen: Getting the house fixed up is really about eliminating the stresses in life (what do you want instead?) I want peace and to sit back and be satisfied and be happy.
Question to the group: How did you find the '7 whys' or 'and then what'? Karen did this in the beginning of her journey to her 'wants'. Barb said, it helped me sort through what was at the heart of what I want. Seanne said, I approached this differently in that I went directly to finding ways to save money. I found 3 ways to save money right away instead of asking 'and then what'. She stayed home this weekend instead of going out and spending money and this made her feel deprived. We discussed this and will help her find a way to replace her OR with AND (Have money now AND save for the future and for an investment in property)
Question: How did you do with the 'practice' questions for 'Determining Success'?
Barb: Explored how she will feel and what she's surrounded by – what she's doing – she journaled about it and it stirred up feelings that when she gets to her 3 core wants she will have internal peace. (She visualized how she will be, feel, etc. living that life) She felt peaceful and calm. She also wants a partner in her life and when she has this peace and calm, her partner will want to be around that person.
Seanne: Still stuck in the 'hows'. G & T – we know that we are asking you to think differently than you ever have. Seanne will work with Karen to do the determining success questions. And, Seanne will help Karen work on her purpose statement.
Way to go accountabilibuddies!
Karen: Without addressing the 'hows' she got a clearer vision of what she wants. It also increased her enthusiasm for opening her own consulting business. In answering the questions, she found that the last question (how will your peers see you when you get what you want) – caused her to realize that what her peers think about her isn't as important as what her clients feel about her.
Barb: Was also challenged answer the questions without addressing the 'hows'.
T&G assured everyone that the 'hows' will come later and after we have been all the way around the Infinite Success Loop and they have seen victories they will be more confident that this process does work in this fashion
SOS:
Troy presented the overview of the SOS step. Remember it's
ALL ABOUT YOU!
Steps one and two were presented (see the web site for the detailed worksheets)
Practice: Take a couple of your wants and use steps 1 and 2 of SOS to begin the final step in the Dream Circle
Practice: To begin the Dream Circle again – take a look at your initial 'wants' and add anything you 'want' – remembering the power of AND.
Announcement: We will be adding one or two new members next week. We are looking forward to their input and feedback and know they will be a valued and integral part of the team
Attendance:

We will be adding a new member or two in two weeks. Doug Leal will be invited to rejoin our group at the time that we hold meetings admitting new members.
(Update Gina called Doug Leal to update him. Left a message at this office on 3/5/8 and as of 3/6/8 10:00 a.m. has not gotten a return call)
Jim has decided to step away from teamWANT and will always be included in the circle of people we love and like to hang out with! 
Practice from the last meeting:
Identify top 5 wants
List any limiting thoughts or belief systems
Review your wants against your purpose statement
Barb: Found that there was a difference, for her, in limiting thoughts and belief systems. That is that if she can ponder them and come to an answer it is a limiting thought. A belief system is a deep soul searching and long standing belief about your ability or your view of yourself or your life.
For example in her want of a new house a limiting thought is can I maintain two residences? The answer is, yes, if I plan ahead and Im careful. Another want is to find a life partner. The belief system she has about that goes much deeper and she didnt come up with easy answers to those.
Barb also found that there were belief systems she had about the new house that as she got more specific with exactly what she wanted in a new house and the purpose of the new house and what it represented to her those belief systems turned into nothing more than limiting thoughts which she could overcome.
Seanne: Wants to save money and to invest in a property. Her limiting thoughts are that she wants to buy things and spend money now. Why save money now and wait until Im old to spend it and I cant enjoy it? She had the same thoughts about investing in a property I wont have the money to play and buy stuff. There is a finite amount of money and I cant save and invest AND still have plenty of money to play.
In running their wants against their purpose statement:
Barb had come up with a purpose statement using the model we presented at the retreat in December. That model didnt render the statement she really wants and it did give her a chance to come up with her core values as a place to start. Those values are encourage, inspire and demonstrate integrity. For her new home she found there was complete congruence. For her partner, she found that its important that she consciously make sure that in that relationship she is true to herself in being her authentic self.
Seanne spent time with, her accountabilibuddies, Doug (Hay) and Karen and came up with a purpose statement that works great for her:
My purpose is to appreciate what I have and those around me, to accomplish all I can using wisdom and perseverance and to serve as an inspiration and example for all of mankind.
She too had used the model we presented at the retreat and it didnt work well for her and she modeled her statement after the examples we published in the handbook from the retreat.
We reviewed that Troy and Gina have incorporated teamWANT and we want to make it a viable business. To that end we have asked for everyones commitment to one hour a week of practice and some activity every day toward their wants. Also, we have asked for commitment to open and honest feedback regarding what is and isnt working for them and why. Everyone in this meeting agreed to these terms and boy are we every excited about that!!
Karen, Kitty and Barb want to keep looking for an approach that will work for them in coming up with their purpose statements.
Troy presented Additional Possibilities:
The questions to ask yourself in this step are
Is this what I want? Or is it something better? Or bigger? (ex: I want to lose 10 lbs. Because I want to look good because I want a boyfriend because that will get me validation, companionship and confidence. So, what I REALLY want is companionship, validation and confidence). This is a difference between a shallow want and a core want that is something that youll hang on to for life.
Karen suggested the 7 levels of why. Gina asked her for her wants she started out with to fix up our house. After asking the whys what she really wants is a paradise and a place to recharge her batteries
Gina and Kitty had done and then what when they were together a few days ago. Gina found that it made her even more excited about her fitness business want.
For the second of Additional Possibilities
Practice this week and then what or the 7 whys for at least 10 minutes this week. You will find it gets you even more focused on your purpose as well further defining your wants and additional possibilities and makes you even more excited about those possibilities!
Determining Success How will I know when Ive achieved success?
Gina and Troy walked though a role play of this question:
Ginas want the fitness business
T How will you know when you are getting the outcome you desire?
G I see myself walking out the door in my exercise clothes with a big smile on my face
T Get even more specific what will lead up to this?
G I see a business license hanging on the wall I see myself in the bank opening an account in the name of Fit For Good I have business cards and a client list
T What will you be doing when you realize youve achieved the dream?
G Ill be walking into the bank and making deposits of the money Ive been paid through my business
T What will you see, hear, feel when you are successful?
G Ill be renting the clubhouse in the neighborhood for fitness classes. I hear the music playing during the classes. I see my clients smiling. Ill be celebrating with my clients their progress to their fitness goals. Ill be doing lunch time exercise classes at businesses.
T How will you see yourself?
G Happy, confident, relaxed, lots of energy and even keel moods and Im well rested.
T How will others see you?
G As a role model for learning new things right here in the middle of my life. People will see me as having the courage and enthusiasm to branch out and take on a new challenge. They will see me as confident and this will inspire them to do new things too!
Closing thought from an article Seanne sent to us:
Fate favors the bold
2/27/08 teamWANT Meeting
Attendees:
Gina
Kitty
Seanne
Karen (started meeting but had to leave)
There was a last meeting recap from Troy & Gina. They restated that they want people to fully commit to the process and be brutally honest with their feedback.
They are going to ask the membership to work the processes and to give feedback.
They are also going to ask 2 things of us
#1 – a 1 hour a week time commitment to practice
#2 – daily obligation to work on our wants, either small or large.
Seanne and Kitty both stated that they were committed to the team.
Gina and
Each week there will be two topics.
The Agenda will be based on the 3 P’s
There was quite a bit of discussion regarding the absence of the “Best Things” from the agenda.
Kitty – said that she really likes the “best things” process and thinks it is very beneficial.
Seanne – agreed with Kitty and gave feedback on how it could feasibly be done in a small time frame.
Kitty - said that she is not a fan of blogging. Also commented that she is comfortable with structure and would like to know what’s coming in the weeks ahead.
Gina – stated that they are also working on a model of what will be coming up for the club in the future.
Best Things
Kitty – re-read a great book called Creative Visualization – Use The Power of Imagination………. By Shakpi Gawain
Shows effective ways of visualization
Also, one gig cancelled but another took its place that is more money and 1/3 of the time!
Gina – has been grappling with Rapport. Got an extremely flattering memo forwarded to her regarding a recent class. What an amazing way to get a pat on the back! A copy is going to be placed in her personnel file. Way to go!
Seanne – had a really great talk with Gina and Barb about the club. Talked out some concerns and felt very committed afterwards.
Kitty – is inspired by
Continue achieving those things you want!
Due to so few members being available for this meeting, the homework from last week is carried forward to the next meeting.
Next meeting will be held Tues 3/4 @ 7pm.
P.S. Who would like to volunteer to do the minutes for March?
