Huge News!

Gina and Troy have decided to make the WANT Club a business venture.  The Official name is now “Team WANT” and they have incorporated!

Their goal is to develop a network of people who want to decide what they want and how to get it.

They want to make the 9 current members of the WANT Club the pioneers so they will be asking the current membership a few things:

  • Not everyone in the club has gotten what they want.  Gina and Troy want to be sure that the members are giving their full participation in regards to meetings, honesty, openness and energy.
  • To practice with the tools that have been presented and provided
  • To keep an open mind

They are asking for an agreement from all members to let them know:

  • What works?
  • What is not working?
  • What can be done differently?
  • How the processing can be tweaked to work?

Member’s comments

Kitty – likes structure, wants to know what to expect, very excited

Karen – feels that some of the processes are more comfortable for some then for others and this makes some of the tasks difficult because they do not come naturally.

Jim – feels as though he has been accomplishing things and going forward in his life.  He wants to participate as fully as he can and is open to all of the processes.

Barb – interested in the processes and structure.  Feels that openness is good for her.  Has been learning from the processes and likes the new tools that have been provided.  Thinks that we are all learning together and that putting structure in place is good.

Doug H – Says that structure will give rhythm where needed.  He has had a year of emotional upheaval and has gone through a lot.  Thinks that we are all stumbling in a forward direction and getting into a good rhythm.

Troy - they do not want to be in a position of wielding a whipping stick.

Kitty – feels that coaching is an important tool.

Troy - said that they want us to live it and breathe it and that driving yourself forward will be instrumental in providing the tools for success.

Gina – the goal of the club is for people to figure out what you want and to go out and get it.  This requires full participation.  Troy and Gina are asking us to hold each other accountable.

Barb – said “what I hear you saying Gina is that you want each person to get that they want and as we put together processes we are to tell you what works and what doesn’t and what will be marketable.”

Troy – wants all to be open and honest with our feedback.

Gina – has seen how some processes work and others do not.

Jim – said that he will be sending out an email with his resume attached this weekend and needs us to give feedback.  This will help him with his WANT.

Kitty – is digging on the homework assignments and gets all focused on all the resources that we have.

Other News

If anyone has any questions, comments or thoughts to please let Troy and Gina know so they can tweak things to make them work.

The group is very important to all.  If anyone does not want to play it will not hurt anybody’s feelings.

Seanne

Meeting:

We talked about the closed eye process that we did last meeting which led to the topic of limiting beliefs and how to recognize and vanquish them.  The first step is to notice the negative belief and to realize that they can co-exist with any dreams and goals that you might have.

Question for the group:

What were the negative beliefs you have encountered in your life and how did you overcome them?  What were the results?  How did you feel about yourself after?

Troy related a story about a process he had done with Rapport where you take a walk on 1600 degree burning hot coals!  He believed that it would not be possible and was afraid (justifiably so!) of burning off his feet and being called "Stumps" for the rest of his life!

His brain said that it could not be done, but he also had the additional pressure of not wanting to be the only one who chickened out. He knew that if he did the walk he would feel good about himself and his accomplishment and if he didn't do it he would feel regret for the rest of his life.  He put aside his fears and was exhilarated in accomplishing what he had earlier thought was an almost impossible feat! (editors note: what if the group was going to jump off a cliff?  Do you just go along because everyone else is and plunge to your death?  Be wary of groups of people who convince you to drink kool aid and take a nap)

Seanne told a story about how she had lost her job (because the business closed) and was unsure of what real job skills she possessed.  She spent every day reading the job ads and sending out resumes to anyone and everyone.  Any ad that mentioned something that she had every done, and in some cases ever thought of doing, were sent a resume.  And that, my good friends, is how she ended up with the City of Newport Beach!

Gina made the comment that there are 2 reasons for change…..to avoid pain and to seek pleasure.

Processes:

There are 2 processes that we are to do before the next meeting and they are available for download from the WANT club website.  The purpose of these exercises is threefold 1) realizing what your wants truly are 2) having believable and achievable dreams 3) be able to get your arms around your wants to see how they can be made into reality.

NASA – think of a want (or several) and ask yourself the following questions to see if it is achievable or not

1. what is the best thing that could happen?

2. what is the worst thing that could happen?

3. what is the best thing that could happen if you don't do it?

4. what is the worst thing that could happen if you don't do it?

And Then What?

This is to help guide you to purpose and to really dig into what we want, eliminate surface wants and getting to the heart of the want (if you want a heart then that's a whole other process)

Get together in pairs and take turns telling each other what you want.  When one person states their want the other says "and then what?"  This goes on and on until you have a firm, achievable want that you believe in!  You will also realize that your fears are not as scary as they once were.

Random notes:

Gina told a cute story about conquering red haired giants

Seanne told a fascinating story involving cadaver dogs

Troy told us that fear was really an acronym for FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL.  (hmmmm says the editor skeptically)

Barb says that she has one major want – To have no limiting thoughts (wow!.....that's a great one.)

Closing thoughts –

always remember to spay and neuter your pets - Bob Barker

Want Minutes 1-26-08

WANT Meeting Minutes

January 26, 2008

Present:            Gina, Karen, Barb, Troy, Doug L., Kitty, Seanne

I.                   WANT Group Hello

We have been getting carried away with sharing all the great things that are happening to us and have all committed to making this section short and sweet for future meetings.

Gina found a new full-duplex speaker phone that will be debuted at our next meeting.  She also experienced her first pedicure where she was able to live in the moment, relax and enjoy it.

Troy realized how great of a relationship he has rebuilt with Steve.

Kitty closed a $2k deal for 50 minutes of work, close to home.  She has also hired a personal career coach.

Doug L. is involved in a partnership with a partner who is “stuck.”  A silver lining revealed itself when tragedy happened to a friend and Doug’s partner is now moving forward.

Seanne visited the doc and received her test results.  She is apparently “healthy as a horse.”  Woo hoo!

Barb finalized plans for a much-needed trip to Denver to visit family and friends.

Karen has been considering starting her own consulting business and recognition received from a respected colleague caused her to think more about this.  She has started a list of leads.

II.                Elements of Limiting Thoughts/Belief Systems

We must “simply notice” the limiting thoughts that affect us as we progress toward success.  Like cleaning out your closet:  what is in your way?

Reference:  Page 5 of your Retreat booklet.

We must be able to let go of our old beliefs and make room for greater opportunities.  Fear of the unknown limits our willingness to let go of old BS.

As you become aware of your limiting thoughts:

1.                  Identify it

2.                  Is it valid?

3.                  Does this concern help me be more successful or hinder me?

We completed a process where each of us thought of one of our WANTs and identified limiting thoughts that may be holding us back.  We considered 2 and 3 above in order to determine if these limiting thoughts are valid or not.  Then, how do these invalid concerns affect us?

As we all revealed our WANTs and the gremlins that may be holding us back, Gina presented the conclusion of the process:

1.                  Does this make sense?

2.                  How did I gain this idea and from whom?

3.                  How does believing in this affect me?

4.                  How does this make me feel?

5.                  Does it help me to succeed or does it hinder me?  How?

6.                  Where did this idea begin and how long have I believed it?

We are all encouraged to visit this process regularly in order to rid ourselves of these gremlins.

Homework:     Think back to a time when you found something in yourself which you did not know you had, or forgot you had, and you pulled it out to become successful.  As a result you changed the outcome from potentially negative to positive.

Next Meeting:   Saturday, February 2, 10:00 a.m.

Signing off  . . .
