Want Minutes 1-26-08

WANT Meeting Minutes

January 26, 2008

Present:            Gina, Karen, Barb, Troy, Doug L., Kitty, Seanne

I.                   WANT Group Hello

We have been getting carried away with sharing all the great things that are happening to us and have all committed to making this section short and sweet for future meetings.

Gina found a new full-duplex speaker phone that will be debuted at our next meeting.  She also experienced her first pedicure where she was able to live in the moment, relax and enjoy it.

Troy realized how great of a relationship he has rebuilt with Steve.

Kitty closed a $2k deal for 50 minutes of work, close to home.  She has also hired a personal career coach.

Doug L. is involved in a partnership with a partner who is “stuck.”  A silver lining revealed itself when tragedy happened to a friend and Doug’s partner is now moving forward.

Seanne visited the doc and received her test results.  She is apparently “healthy as a horse.”  Woo hoo!

Barb finalized plans for a much-needed trip to Denver to visit family and friends.

Karen has been considering starting her own consulting business and recognition received from a respected colleague caused her to think more about this.  She has started a list of leads.

II.                Elements of Limiting Thoughts/Belief Systems

We must “simply notice” the limiting thoughts that affect us as we progress toward success.  Like cleaning out your closet:  what is in your way?

Reference:  Page 5 of your Retreat booklet.

We must be able to let go of our old beliefs and make room for greater opportunities.  Fear of the unknown limits our willingness to let go of old BS.

As you become aware of your limiting thoughts:

1.                  Identify it

2.                  Is it valid?

3.                  Does this concern help me be more successful or hinder me?

We completed a process where each of us thought of one of our WANTs and identified limiting thoughts that may be holding us back.  We considered 2 and 3 above in order to determine if these limiting thoughts are valid or not.  Then, how do these invalid concerns affect us?

As we all revealed our WANTs and the gremlins that may be holding us back, Gina presented the conclusion of the process:

1.                  Does this make sense?

2.                  How did I gain this idea and from whom?

3.                  How does believing in this affect me?

4.                  How does this make me feel?

5.                  Does it help me to succeed or does it hinder me?  How?

6.                  Where did this idea begin and how long have I believed it?

We are all encouraged to visit this process regularly in order to rid ourselves of these gremlins.

Homework:     Think back to a time when you found something in yourself which you did not know you had, or forgot you had, and you pulled it out to become successful.  As a result you changed the outcome from potentially negative to positive.

Next Meeting:   Saturday, February 2, 10:00 a.m.

Signing off  . . .
